Crystal Gedris
Crystal was raised in O'Fallon, Illinois, where she graduated from O'Fallon Township High School. During her time at OTHS, she participated in soccer, cross country, and track. Following high school, she attended the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, where she continued her cross country running for an additional four years. In 2008, she obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy and went on to serve as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager with a local retailer for 15 years.
After college, Crystal initially struggled to establish a fitness routine that resonated with her, often returning to running. However, after completing a half marathon in 2013, a friend encouraged her to try CrossFit, and she quickly developed a passion for this workout regimen.
After three years of CrossFit, Crystal recognized the significant benefits it could have provided her during her high school and college athletic career. Motivated by this realization, she pursued the CrossFit Level 1 Certification to enable her to coach not only adults but also athletes. In 2016, while maintaining her full-time position as a pharmacist, she embarked on her coaching journey in her spare time. Over the years, she has had the privilege of coaching individuals of all ages and skill levels, ranging from three years old to over seventy.
Crystal’s enthusiasm for coaching has flourished with each phase of her life, and she remains committed to continuous learning and professional development. As a mother of two wonderful children, she maintained her CrossFit practice throughout both pregnancies. Recognizing the lack of knowledge available during her first pregnancy, she developed a strong desire to assist other women in safely continuing their CrossFit training—and fitness pursuits more broadly—during pregnancy and the postpartum period. In the past two years at CrossFit 557, she has successfully supported over ten women through their respective journeys, whether they were pregnant, newly postpartum, or several years postpartum.
Crystal became a member of CrossFit 557 in 2018 and has since evolved into one of the head coaches and the manager. Her passion is fueled by witnessing individuals of all ages—children, teenagers, and adults—achieve feats they never thought possible, and she takes pride in having played a role in their transformative journeys.
